It’s been awhile since I’ve posted. I’d like to catch you up with what I’ve been working on, what I’ll be doing over the next several months…and ask for help.
I’ve written a collection of short stories and it’s almost ready for beta readers. It’s my best work yet and I’m excited to have other people try it and give feedback.
And over the winter and spring I will be expanding into audio books. I’ll start with the six books in my backlist and and release them as soon as I am able. I’ll end by recording the new book in order to publish it at the same time as the ebook , later in 2015.
If you want to be a beta reader for the new book, or a beta listener for the new audio books, leave a comment and I’ll get back to you.
I am not looking for detailed editing or proofreading. I’ve already got that covered. For the new book, I am looking for readers who will say which stories work for them and which don’t, and why. And for the audio books, whether they meet their standards of performance and quality.
Interested? The back blurb of the new book is below, and here is a link to my backlist. I look forward to hearing from you.
In his new collection of short stories, Charlie Close gives us people who try, succeed, and sometimes fail to connect with others.
He gives us a poor family celebrating its first Halloween in a rich neighborhood, a waitress trying to get the attention of the silent new man in town, teachers talking about their students’ crushes, a boy stuck in a car with the kid he beat up, a roadie who finally busts loose during sound check, a business consultant who assassinates her client, and a disgraced accountant who frames his wife for his own murder.
The stories are told with Charlie Close’s unique insight, compassion, and biting sense of humor. They are dark, comic, sweet, ironic, and…weird.
Read Before the Ripcord Broke and discover that, however different we may feel, we are not so different after all.
